Zhuhai Jingshan Park is located at No.1 Jida Haibin North Road, Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. It is an urban mountain‑leisure park covering an area of 579,000 square meters. The main peak of the mountain stands 148 meters above sea level. Nestled between mountains and sea and adjacent to Xianglu Bay and Lover's Road, it serves as a core mountain‑sea viewing spot in the Jida area of Zhuhai. Featuring natural pictographic rock formations as its highlight, the park integrates mountain hiking, cable‑car sightseeing, jungle tobogganing and lakeside recreation. It consists of five functional zones: the mountain‑top viewing area, mid‑mountain rock‑scenic area, lakeside recreation area, cable‑car and toboggan zone, and large amusement‑park zone. The Jingshan Cable Car inside the park is 350 meters long and the rail toboggan run is 630 meters long. A large viewing platform on the mountain top offers a 360‑degree panorama of Xianglu Bay, Zhuhai Fisher Girl, Zhuhai Grand Theater, Hong Kong‑Zhuhai‑Macao Bridge and the distant skyline of Macao. It is a classic urban overlook for mountain and sea views in downtown Zhuhai.

History and Culture

Formerly known as Shijingshan, Jingshan Park got its name from its abundant naturally‑formed rocks shaped like various animals. This coastal mountain had been part of Xiangshan’s shoreline since ancient times. Literati visited here during the Qing Dynasty and left behind the cliff‑carved inscription "Hai Tian Di Zhu", recording the local mountain‑sea culture. In ancient times, fishermen near Xianglu Bay often climbed this mountain to observe sea conditions, winds and returning vessels. It functioned as a natural coastal observation highland for local residents.

Shijingshan was officially opened to the public in 1987 under the name Shijingshan Park, later commonly called Jingshan Park by local citizens. The on‑site cable‑car and toboggan projects were completed and put into operation in 1998, becoming landmark sightseeing attractions of Zhuhai. Thanks to its outstanding vantage point, the site has long been a city‑representative scenic spot receiving tourists from home and abroad. Subsequent upgrades added supporting facilities including a mountain‑top theme post office, love‑lock area and leisure tea house. Combining natural rock landscapes, coastal scenery and urban cultural‑tourism experiences, it has become an important free public park along Zhuhai Lover's Road tourist belt.

Main Attractions

Viewing Platform

Situated on the summit of Jingshan Mountain, the viewing platform is the core scenic spot of the whole park. The spacious platform delivers a full 360‑degree view of mountains, sea and city. On clear days visitors can overlook Xianglu Bay Beach, the Zhuhai Fisher Girl Statue and the Grand Theater on Yeli Island. When visibility is good, the Hong Kong‑Zhuhai‑Macao Bridge and Macao urban skyline come into sight. The platform is equipped with a love‑lock zone, love‑themed benches and Wanghai Pavilion, alongside a mountain‑top coffee kiosk and Jingshan Theme Post Office. Designed with a giant post‑box shape, the post office provides postcards, commemorative stamps and other cultural‑creative experiences. Sunset hours make this a popular shooting location for seascapes and city twilight scenes.

Sightseeing Cable Car

The cable car stretches 350 meters in total length with a one‑way operating speed of 1.25 meters per second and a one‑way capacity of 500 passengers per hour. It departs from the lower‑station terminal and arrives directly at the mountain‑top platform. The open‑air chairs enable passengers to enjoy successive views of woodland, urban building clusters and bay scenery during the ascent. Seats facing the sea offer better sightlines, and the ride takes roughly three minutes to reach the summit, ideal for visitors with limited physical strength. The cable car operates as a separately‑charged facility and may suspend service temporarily in strong wind or heavy rain.

Toboggan Run

The toboggan run winds from the mountain top down to the foothill, with a total rail length of 630 meters passing through woodland and rock formations. Riders sit in sleds and control their own braking speed. One of the park’s most popular recreational facilities, it delivers an immersive jungle‑gliding experience while offering views of mountain vegetation and rock outcrops, and is recommended for the downhill journey. Height restrictions apply: children under 1.1 meters in height are not permitted to ride.

Mid‑mountain Rock‑scenic Area

Twenty‑six groups of natural pictographic rock formations scatter across the mid‑mountain zone. Their shapes resemble animals including toads, seagulls, whales, buffaloes and giant pandas, which gave Shijingshan its original name. This zone also preserves cultural relics such as the cliff‑carved inscription "Hai Tian Di Zhu" and Longquan Spring. The mountain trails run gently, suitable for slow‑paced hiking to appreciate rock formations under dense tree cover that provides ample shade.

Travel Suggestions

  • Recommended visiting duration: 2‑3 hours. Arriving after 15:30 enables visitors to enjoy daytime sea views, sea sunsets and city night scenes in sequence.
  • Visitors with limited stamina are advised to take the cable car uphill and the toboggan downhill to conserve physical strength.
  • For photography, prioritize the mountain‑top viewing platform. Sunset offers optimal light; wide‑angle equipment is recommended for mountain‑sea panoramic shots.
  • Hikers should stick to official mountain trails and avoid undeveloped off‑path areas.
  • Book cable‑car and toboggan tickets online in advance for better rates, and check weather alerts before purchase.
  • For family trips with children, confirm toboggan height restrictions beforehand; children under 1.1 m cannot ride the toboggan.

Precautions

  • Park admission is free, yet cable‑car, toboggan, boat rental and other amusement items are charged separately. The cable car and toboggan may close temporarily in strong wind or heavy rain; ticket sales stop near closing time.
  • Wear non‑slip sports shoes for hiking. Some mountain steps are steep and slippery after rainfall; exercise caution while walking.
  • Open flames and smoking are prohibited within woodland zones. Do not litter and protect mountain vegetation.
  • Winds are strong on the mountain‑top and temperatures drop rapidly at dusk; bring a light outer layer.
  • Follow staff instructions while riding the cable car and toboggan. Secure personal belongings to prevent mobile phones or ornaments from falling.
  • UV radiation is strong in summer. Apply sun‑protection and bring drinking water, as supply points are scarce in mountain sections.
