Lianhuashan Park is located at No. 6030 Hongli Road, Futian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is a National Key Park, a National Red Tourism Demonstration Base and Guangdong Provincial Patriotism Education Base. "Spring Dawn on Lian Mountain", one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Shenzhen, is situated here. Covering a total area of 181 hectares, the park gets its name from its seven connected hilltops resembling a blooming lotus flower. The main peak of the park stands at an altitude of 106 meters, and the Summit Square covers an area of 4,000 square meters. As an ecological municipal park, it lies in the northern end of Shenzhen Central District, bordering Hongli Road to the south, Lianhua Road to the north, Caitian Road to the east and Xinzhou Road to the west. It serves as an important window showcasing Shenzhen’s urban features and the achievements of reform and opening-up. Construction preparation of the park started in 1992, and it officially opened to the public in June 1997. The park features diverse landscapes including mountains, lakes, lawns and cultural memorial sites. It receives a large number of visitors every year and is a popular recreational destination for local residents and tourists from other cities.
History and Culture
The Lianhuashan area preserves the Huangmotang Tomb, an ancient Southern Song Dynasty tomb with a history of more than 700 years. It is listed as a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit and an important ancient heritage within the park. Before modern urban development, this place was originally suburban mountain land retaining primitive forest landforms.
In October 1992, along with the launch of planning and construction of Futian Central District, the preparation work for Lianhuashan Park officially began. In the early construction phase, temporary buildings on the site were demolished, followed by land consolidation and greening projects. In June 1997, Lianhuashan Park opened to the public and became a large urban park in Shenzhen Central District. In 2000, the bronze statue of Comrade Deng Xiaoping was installed at the Summit Square on the main peak, which became the core cultural landmark of the park.
In 2008, Lianhuashan Park was rated as one of the second batch of National Key Parks. Later it was successively recognized as Guangdong Provincial Patriotism Education Base and National Red Tourism Demonstration Base, and included in the National List of Red Tourism Scenic Spots. Starting from 2003, the Shenzhen Bougainvillea Show was relocated to Lianhuashan Park. Since then, the flower show held every autumn and winter has become the landmark cultural event of the park. In 2010, the Memorial Park for the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was completed, further enriching the red cultural connotation of the park.
Main Attractions
Summit Square
Summit Square sits on the top of the main peak of Lianhuashan, with an altitude of 106 meters and an area of 4,000 square meters. It is the highest outdoor square in Shenzhen. At the center of the square stands the bronze statue of Comrade Deng Xiaoping. The statue is 6 meters high and weighs 6 tons, depicting him striding forward. It is selected as one of Shenzhen’s Top Ten Historical Buildings. Standing at the viewing platform of the square, visitors can overlook the entire Futian CBD complex. It is an ideal spot to admire the full city view and night scenery, as well as a core venue for red education and memorial visits.
Kite Square
Kite Square is located in the southeast area of the park, with a lawn area of about 20,000 square meters. Featuring gentle and open terrain, it is a well-known kite-flying site in Shenzhen. The vast lawn is suitable for picnics and family leisure. The gently undulating terrain offers a comfortable activity space. Numerous local residents come here to fly kites during holidays, forming a distinctive cultural landscape of Shenzhen.
Lianhua Lake
Lianhua Lake lies on the north side of the park, covering a water area of 50,000 square meters. The lake has an open surface with walkways circling around it and dense trees on the banks. Visitors may stroll along the lakeside to relax and enjoy the beautiful lake scenery. The quiet lake area is ideal for slow leisure walks.
Memorial Park for the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone
The Memorial Park is situated in the southeast of the park and completed in 2010. Its main structure consists of three curved relief walls connected by an annular layout. The three reliefs take "Story of Spring", "Entering a New Era" and "Marching toward Rejuvenation" as themes. They artistically represent major historical events and the features of the times during the thirty years of construction of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, echoing the cultural landscape at Summit Square.
Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is in the southern part of the park, dominated by palm plants and a large lawn with a total area of 80,000 square meters, presenting strong subtropical charm. The wide open lawn paired with tall coconut trees provides a nice area for rest and photography. The main exhibition area of the Bougainvillea Show is also set in this zone.
Rainforest Valley
Rainforest Valley is located in the western part of the park, one of the two major scenic zones in the eastern area. Built along valley terrain, it is planted with a large number of native and tropical plants. Streams wind through the woods creating a rich ecological atmosphere. Compared with lawn areas, it is quieter and suitable for hiking.
Huangmotang Tomb
Huangmotang Tomb is an ancient Southern Song tomb and a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, nestled in the mountains of the park. The tomb is chair-shaped with three layers. A round granite altar is built at the bottom layer, and a lotus-shaped stone incense burner stands in front of the tomb. It is a precious ancient heritage on the park grounds.

Travel Tips
- The main peak of the park is not high, and most paths are gentle slopes. Ordinary visitors can reach the summit in about 20 minutes. It is also suitable for the elderly and children. Comfortable flat shoes are recommended.
- Visiting Summit Square in the evening allows you to watch the city sunset. The Civic Center Light Show may be available during certain periods; check the schedule of the light show in advance.
- The Bougainvillea Show is usually held around November each year with the best flower scenery. The park receives heavy visitor flow during this period, so off-peak visits are recommended.
- The lawn at Kite Square is suitable for picnics. Visitors may bring drinking water and simple food. Public restrooms and water stations are available inside the park.
- Visitors with limited physical strength can take the sightseeing shuttle buses in the park. One-way ticket costs 8 RMB, and the day pass is 15 RMB for boarding and alighting at designated stops.
- Keep quiet when visiting red cultural sites, pay respects politely and follow relevant visiting etiquette.
Notes
- The park opens for free and reservation is not required. Parking spaces are limited and get crowded on weekends and holidays. Public transport is preferred.
- Kites fitted with sharp metal parts on reels are prohibited in the park. Drone flights are restricted in some zones.
- Picking flowers, grass or trampling vegetation are forbidden. Open flames and barbecues are banned in forest areas.
- Entry stops at 22:30 and the whole park closes at 23:00. Please arrange your visiting time properly.
- Mosquitoes are common in summer. Mosquito repellent is suggested. Apply sunscreen for hiking on sunny days.
- Huangmotang Tomb is a protected cultural relic. Touching or carving the tomb structure is forbidden during visits.
- Pets must be kept on leashes when entering the park, and pet waste should be cleaned up promptly.
Transportation
- Metro: Take Line 3 or Line 4 to Children’s Palace Station, Exit F1. Walk for about 5 minutes to the South Gate of the park. Take Line 2 to Lianhuaxi Station, Exit A for the West Gate. Take Line 10 to Lianhuacun Station, Exit D near the Southeast Gate.
- Bus: Take buses to Lianhuashan Park Stop or Guan Shanyue Art Museum Stop, then walk to the park entrances.
- Self-driving: Navigate to Lianhuashan Park Parking Lot. Parking lots are available at South Gate and West Gate, yet parking spaces are tight during holidays.
Opening Hours
Lianhuashan Park opens all year round from 6:00 to 23:00 daily, with last entry at 22:30. The sightseeing shuttle buses operate from 9:00 to 19:00 between March and October every year, and the operating hours will be shortened in other seasons.

The park is open to the public free of charge. No ticket purchase or advance reservation is required for entry.
