Free Sky Observation Deck of Ping An Finance Center in Shenzhen is located at Ping An Finance Center, No. 5033 Yitian Road, Futian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is a high-altitude sightseeing attraction inside a super high-rise building. The main tower of Ping An Finance Center stands 599 meters tall, and the Free Sky Observation Deck is situated on the 116th floor of the building, classified as an urban high-rise sightseeing site. Built on Shenzhen’s tallest skyscraper, the attraction features a 360-degree panoramic view from high altitude, overlooking the cityscape of Shenzhen. On clear days, partial areas of Hong Kong can be seen. The total construction area of the main tower of Ping An Finance Center is approximately 460,000 square meters, and the sightseeing area of Free Sky Observation Deck covers about 1,500 square meters. It is equipped with viewing platforms, multimedia exhibition halls, lounge areas and other supporting facilities.
History and Culture
The Ping An Finance Center project was invested and constructed by Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. Construction officially started in 2009, and the whole project was completed and delivered in 2017. Upon completion, the building ranked first in China and fourth worldwide among super high-rises. As a landmark building in Futian CBD of Shenzhen, it records the development of Shenzhen’s modern urban construction.
Free Sky Observation Deck officially opened to the public in 2018. As the publicly accessible high-altitude sightseeing space of Ping An Finance Center, it combines the engineering achievements of skyscrapers with urban sightseeing and serves as a window displaying the cityscape of Shenzhen. The building adopts multiple domestic super high-rise construction technologies and has accumulated practical engineering experience in structural seismic resistance, wind dampers, curtain wall engineering and other fields. It is one of the representative super high-rise building projects in China.
Main Attractions
360° Panoramic Viewing Platform
Located on the 116th floor, this viewing platform is the core zone of Free Sky Observation Deck. It is enclosed by full-length floor-to-ceiling glass and offers unobstructed circular views. Visitors can see Lianhua Mountain to the north, overlook Shenzhen Bay and Qianhai area to the west, gaze across the Shenzhen River towards northern Hong Kong to the south, and view the urban building clusters of Luohu to the east. Signboards on the platform mark the names of urban landmarks in all directions.
Free Space
Free Space is a distinctive suspended viewing zone inside the observation deck with transparent glass flooring. Visitors can stand on the glass to look vertically down at the scenery at the bottom of the building and experience the visual sensation of being suspended high above the ground. It is a popular spot for tourists to take photos and check in.
Time Tunnel Multimedia Exhibition Hall
The Time Tunnel Multimedia Exhibition Hall uses multimedia screens and light and shadow installations to show the entire process of Ping An Finance Center from planning and construction to completion. It introduces knowledge about super high-rise building construction and presents video materials of Shenzhen’s urban development, helping visitors learn about the engineering stories behind the building.
High-altitude Cultural and Creative Shop
The High-altitude Cultural and Creative Shop is located at the exit area of the observation deck. It sells cultural and creative products themed on Ping An Finance Center and souvenirs of Shenzhen for visitors to buy as gifts.

Travel Tips
- It is recommended to visit on sunny and low-fog days for better visibility and viewing experience. Distant landscapes tend to be blocked on rainy or hazy days.
- Evening admission is recommended, so visitors can enjoy both daytime panoramic city views and sunset night scenes, experiencing two different city views in day and night.
- The high-speed elevator rises rapidly. Some people may feel temporary ear pressure discomfort, which can be relieved by swallowing or yawning.
- The indoor temperature on the observation deck is relatively low. It is suggested to bring a thin coat.
- Avoid glass reflection when taking photos. You may get close to the glass and turn off the flash to improve photo quality.
- It is recommended to reserve 40 to 60 minutes for the tour to fully visit all spots.
- Crowds surge during holidays. Buy tickets online in advance to shorten queuing time on site.
Notes
- Security inspection is required before entering the observation deck. Lighters, sharp cutting tools, flammable and explosive goods, large luggage, selfie sticks and tripods are prohibited inside.
- No jumping or heavy knocking on glass in the suspended viewing area. Please follow the instructions of on-site staff.
- Aerial photography and drone use are forbidden within the observation deck.
- Elderly visitors, people with hypertension, heart disease or acrophobia should visit cautiously according to personal physical conditions. Children must be accompanied and supervised by adults throughout the visit.
- Once validated, tickets cannot be reused for re-entry. A new ticket is required for re-admission after leaving.
- Eating is banned inside the observation deck; drinking water is only permitted in designated areas.
- In case of typhoons, severe convection and other extreme weather, the venue may be temporarily closed. Please check official announcements before your trip.
Transportation
- Metro: Take Metro Line 1 or Line 3 to Convention & Exhibition Center Station, Exit D, then walk about 800 meters; take Metro Line 2 or Line 11 to Futian Station, then walk about 600 meters to reach Ping An Finance Center.
- Bus: Take bus routes 379, M194, M224 or M500 to West Convention & Exhibition Center Stop, and walk to the site.
- Self-driving: Navigate to the underground parking lot of Ping An Finance Center. Parking fees are charged hourly. Parking spaces are tight, so self-driving is not recommended on holidays.
Opening Hours
The regular opening hours of Free Sky Observation Deck are 10:00 to 20:00 daily, with the last admission at 19:15. Opening hours may be adjusted during statutory holidays. The venue may temporarily change opening periods according to passenger flow, weather and equipment maintenance. It is advised to check official announcements before travel for confirmation.
