History and Culture
Guangzhou Sunac Land is a large cultural‑tourism project invested and built by Sunac Cultural Tourism. As an important section of Guangzhou Sunac Cultural Tourism City, the project was situated in Huadu District, Guangzhou and officially opened to the public in June 2019. The original objective of the project was to build a large‑scale cultural‑tourism complex within the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area and fill the market gap for large theme parks in northern Guangzhou.
When developing its cultural content, the park deeply explores local Lingnan culture and designs scenes based on Cantonese culture as its core. Buildings, street settings and stage performances within the park draw heavily from Lingnan historical tales, folk customs and traditional crafts. Cantonese street‑market features and Lingnan legends are transformed into tangible scenes and live performances for visitors to view. Tourists can experience amusement facilities while appreciating the regional charm of Lingnan culture, setting it apart from ordinary machine‑driven theme parks. There are no long‑standing ancient historical relics on‑site. This is a newly‑built modern cultural‑tourism scenic spot whose cultural presentation mainly relies on interpretation and reproduction of Lingnan folk customs.
Main Attractions
Millennium Commercial Capital
Millennium Commercial Capital is a themed zone recreating ancient Lingnan commercial streets. Its architecture references the style of Lingnan arcade buildings. The block houses themed shops and local‑snack stalls together with small street interactive performances, recreating the bustling atmosphere of old‑time Guangzhou trading streets. Serving as the main pedestrian gathering area after entry, it connects multiple themed zones of the park. Tourists may rest here, buy cultural‑and‑creative souvenirs and sample authentic Lingnan snacks.
Maritime Silk Road
The Maritime Silk Road themed zone takes the ancient Maritime Silk Road as its narrative backdrop. It features navigation‑themed scenes and amusement rides. Highlight attractions here include Marine Whirl and other rides alongside themed landscape sculptures that evoke the imagery of ocean‑going voyages. Attractions in this area cater to families and teenagers, offering both thrilling rides and gentle family‑friendly options.
Nanyue Ancient Kingdom
The Nanyue Ancient Kingdom zone draws material from the history of the ancient Nanyue state of Lingnan. Its buildings adopt cultural characteristics of the Nanyue era. This zone hosts Double‑Dragon Flying, a signature dual‑track roller coaster of the park. The area also contains themed landscapes interpreting stories of ancient Nanyue. Concentrating on high‑thrill rides, it suits visitors fond of mechanical amusement facilities.
Legend of the Five Rams
The Legend of the Five Rams zone is inspired by Guangzhou’s local folk tale of five rams delivering grain ears and positions itself for family‑oriented leisure. It features many low‑intensity family‑friendly rides suitable for children, together with landscape sculptures related to the Five Rams legend. Local Guangzhou folklore is integrated into visiting scenarios. With a relaxing environment, this zone is ideal for family stays.
Lingnan Impression
Lingnan Impression focuses on Cantonese folk customs and takes Lingnan gardens and traditional folk tales as creative blueprints. Apart from landscape sightseeing, the zone stages the large‑scale live theatre performance Dream Back to Lingnan. The stage show presents Lingnan folk stories and diverse local customs. As a core performance viewing spot in the park, it allows audiences to appreciate Cantonese cultural charm via grand stage plays.
Dream Garden
Dream Garden is built in fairy‑tale floral‑garden style with flowers, butterflies and insects as design motifs. It focuses on all‑ages family amusement and gathers children‑oriented rides within the park. Multiple family‑suitable amusement facilities are available.
