Chimelong Paradise is located at No. 299 East Hanxi Avenue, Panyu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, belonging to the national 5A-level Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort and sitting at the core of the resort. Covering a total area of about 2,000 mu, the first-phase construction took 2 years with a total investment of over RMB 2 billion. Designed in a European continental theme style, it serves as a benchmark large-scale European-style theme amusement park built in the early stage of China’s domestic industry. The park is equipped with more than 70 amusement facilities, most of which are imported directly from Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the United States and other countries. It holds eight Asian and world records for amusement equipment, including landmark large rides such as the Vertical Coaster and the former Ten-Loop Coaster. The park is divided into six core themed zones: Jungle Adventure, Rhythm World, Carnival Plaza, Star Dream Garden, Touch Space and Scream Zone, plus the independent Happy Town amusement area opened in 2017. Supporting facilities include two professional performance plazas, an indoor constant-temperature children’s playground, a 4D cinema, multiple themed restaurants and cultural & creative stores. Integrating high-speed rides, live-action stunt shows, float parades, ecological leisure and comprehensive services, it caters to visitors of all age groups. Since opening, it has received over 30 million tourists in total and once set an industry record of over 100,000 visitors in a single day. It has repeatedly won awards such as China’s Best Theme Park and honors from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, ranking as a top comprehensive theme park in South China with leading scale and premium facility configurations.

History & Culture

2006 marked the pivotal year for the park’s construction and opening. Relying on the land of the former Chimelong Night Zoo, Chimelong Group launched the construction of the amusement park. On April 7 of the same year, Chimelong Paradise officially opened to the public. At launch, multiple world-class roller coasters were introduced at once, breaking the ceiling of amusement equipment configurations among domestic theme parks. It pioneered the domestic operation model of prioritizing large rides over artificial landscapes for European-style parks, quickly becoming a benchmark reference for China’s theme park industry.

In August 2008, the entire Guangzhou Chimelong Tourist Resort, including Chimelong Paradise, was awarded the national AAAAA-level tourist attraction title, evolving into Guangzhou’s core cultural tourism brand. The park standardized its performance system simultaneously, with daily fixed shows including stunt theater performances, themed parades and interactive stage acts, forming a dual-core operation system centered on amusement rides and live entertainment.

On January 17, 2017, Happy Town, an original circus-themed zone, officially opened to visitors, adding five brand-new amusement facilities including Free Fall, Skywheel, and Thunder Twist. In September of the same year, Asia’s first Rocket Coaster went into operation, filling the park’s gap in high-speed launch rides and expanding its lineup of thrill attractions.

In 2020, the park completed an overall upgrade of its performance facilities, optimizing float parade routes and updating theater audio-visual effects, while improving parent-child amusement amenities to balance extreme thrill rides and gentle family-friendly experiences. In 2025, the park launched a large-scale renovation project, adding six brand-new facilities: Launch Coaster, Super Rapids, Super Pirate Ship, Magic Swing, Hurricane Swinger and Star Battleship. In December of the same year, the former Guinness World Record-holding Ten-Loop Coaster ceased operation, with new rides replacing its original attraction lineup. For years, the park has hosted regular themed festivals including Chimelong Happy Halloween, Summer Electronic Music Parties and Chinese New Year Carnivals, blending European and American carnival culture with local Lingnan festive characteristics to build an exclusive festival cultural system unique to the park.

Major Attractions

Vertical Coaster

Known as the King of Roller Coasters worldwide, this single ride required an investment of over RMB 200 million. Its track peaks at 60 meters with two 90-degree vertical drops, reaching a top speed of 112 kilometers per hour. After hovering suspended in mid-air briefly, trains plummet straight down and dash through water slides, delivering intense weightlessness throughout the ride. As the park’s most popular signature thrill attraction, it stands in the Rainbow Bay zone as an iconic landscape facility of the resort.
