Xiaomeisha Resort is located at No.39 YanKui Road, Xiaomeisha Section, Yantian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is the core part of Xiaomeisha International Urban Coastal Resort and a well-known coastal leisure scenic spot in eastern Shenzhen. Formerly known as Xiaomeisha Resort, the resort was renovated under urban renewal of the area and soft-opened during the May Day holiday in 2024. It is positioned as an all-season, all-time and all-age coastal leisure destination. Covering a land area of about 205,400 square meters with an affiliated sea area of approximately 1.34 million square meters, it features a crescent-shaped natural beach with fine sand. It is equipped with beach amusement facilities, water sports programs, free parent-child amusement equipment, shower services, coastal leisure squares and other supporting buildings and venues, which can accommodate a large number of tourists for wading, sunbathing, beach sports and other activities. The biggest feature of the scenic spot is its connection with Xiaomeisha Sea World. Visitors can enjoy both the beach and the sea world with one ticket. It is one of the few coastal resorts in China where a frontline beach and an ocean-themed museum operate jointly, integrating natural sea views, water sports, parent-child entertainment and coastal night tours.
History and Culture
Coastal tourism development of Xiaomeisha started in the 1980s. The original Xiaomeisha Resort was completed and opened. Relying on its beautiful bay resources, it quickly became a time-honored coastal resort destination in Shenzhen. Many tourists called it the "Oriental Hawaii", and it carries coastal travel memories of several generations of Shenzhen residents. In the early days, Xiaomeisha mainly featured natural beaches and simple coastal supporting facilities. It was one of the earliest toll beaches open to the public in Shenzhen. Water jet skis, beach camping and other activities have long been iconic entertainments in this area. Meanwhile, Xiaomeisha Sea World was completed and opened in 1999, becoming an early large-scale ocean-themed venue in China. Together with Xiaomeisha Resort, it formed the core of cultural tourism in the Xiaomeisha area.
With urban development, the old resort suffered from aging facilities and insufficient supporting services, so the whole area launched a comprehensive renewal and reconstruction project. Xiaomeisha Sea World closed for renovation in 2019, followed by the shutdown and reconstruction of Xiaomeisha Resort. The renovation project was led by Shenzhen Tefa Group. The overall renovation plan of the area covers 253.24 hectares with a total investment of over 15 billion yuan. During reconstruction, beach ecology was restored, and buildings, landscapes and transportation systems of the park were rebuilt. In May Day of 2024, the renovated Xiaomeisha Resort officially soft-opened. On June 28, 2025, the former Xiaomeisha Resort was officially renamed Xiaomeisha Resort. At the same time, the beach of the resort and Xiaomeisha Sea World were internally connected, launching the two-park one-ticket system. It has completed the transformation from a traditional resort to a modern international coastal resort.
Main Attractions
Xiaomeisha Beach
Xiaomeisha Beach is a crescent-shaped natural bay beach and the core landscape of Xiaomeisha Resort. It has fine sand and designated safe swimming zones staffed by full-time lifeguards on rotating patrol. Tourists can wade, play beach volleyball, sunbathe and rent beach lounge chairs here. The beach is decorated with themed art installations. Cyber-style sculptures, mechanical floats and other installations will be set up in summer vacation, and coastal light shows are available at night. It also offers additional paid water sports including jet skis, Hobie sailboats, paddleboards, flyboards and sightseeing speedboats.
Parent-child Play Area
The Parent-child Play Area is located on flat ground beside the beach. It has 7 free small amusement facilities including merry-go-round, mini train and phantom airplane for young children. It is equipped with rest seats and sunshades, suitable for family visitors to rest and play temporarily. It is a free parent-child photo spot in the resort.
Xiaomeisha Section of Coastal Boardwalk
The Xiaomeisha Section of Coastal Boardwalk stretches for about 3 kilometers. Built along coastal mountains, it extends along the coastline. There are reef clusters and multiple sea-view platforms along the way. A 180-degree panoramic viewing platform in the middle overlooks the whole Xiaomeisha Bay. Visitors can hike along the boardwalk to Baizaijiao Lighthouse and watch the coastal scenery of waves hitting reefs. As part of the mountain-sea slow travel system of the area, the boardwalk is ideal for hiking and seascape photography.
Xiaomeisha Sea World
Xiaomeisha Sea World is internally connected with Xiaomeisha Resort and accessible with one combined ticket. The venue features five themed exhibition halls and four major performance theaters, displaying more than 150,000 marine creatures. It has a globally unique blue hole landscape and sardine storm tank, as well as exhibits such as underwater tunnels, beluga whales, dolphins and polar bears. Mermaid shows and dolphin performances are staged regularly. It integrates marine science popularization and sightseeing, and it is also the only ocean theme park in China with a frontline beach.

Travel Tips
- For summer trips, choose morning or dusk hours to avoid intense midday ultraviolet rays and reduce sunburn risk.
- Water sports are greatly affected by weather and sea conditions. They will be temporarily suspended in strong wind or heavy rain. Check official notices before departure.
- If you plan to visit both the beach and sea world, reserve at least 4 to 5 hours. Shows in Xiaomeisha Sea World follow fixed schedules; check the timetable in advance.
- Purchase tickets online in advance for lower prices and shorter queuing time at on-site ticket counters.
- Some parts of the coastal boardwalk lack shade. Wear a hat and bring drinking water for hiking.
- Weekends and holidays see large crowds. Travel off-peak if possible. Private vehicles driving to eastern scenic spots on holidays need advance reservation for access.
Precautions
- Swimming is only allowed in designated safe swimming zones of the scenic area. Do not swim at unopened reef areas. Follow lifeguards’ advice and stay out of water when waves are rough.
- Ultraviolet rays are strong by the sea. Apply high-SPF sunscreen, bring sun hats and sunglasses. The beach surface gets hot, so non-slip slippers are recommended.
- Flammable and explosive items, glass containers and large canopies are forbidden inside the resort. Open fire and barbecue are prohibited.
- Adults must accompany the elderly and children the whole time while they are in the sea. Minors are not allowed to swim alone.
- The beach will be temporarily closed and some activities suspended under severe weather such as typhoons and heavy rain. Tickets generally cannot be refunded instantly. Check weather warnings before traveling.
- Water sports and lounge chair rentals on the beach are charged separately and not included in the basic admission ticket.
- Showers and lockers in the resort usually require extra payment. Store valuables properly and do not leave them unattended on the beach.
Transportation
- Metro: Take Shenzhen Metro Line 8 to Xiaomeisha Station, Exit A, then walk about 3 minutes to the resort entrance.
- Bus: Take bus M196, M362 and other lines to Xiaomeisha Bus Stop and walk to the resort.
- Self-driving: Navigate to the parking lot of Xiaomeisha Resort. From May Day to National Day every year, private vehicles entering eastern Shenzhen scenic areas on weekends and statutory holidays must reserve access through official channels. Vehicles without reservations are prohibited from entering.
Opening Hours
Xiaomeisha Resort opens from 10:00 to 21:00 on weekdays, and from 9:30 to 21:30 on weekends and statutory holidays. Admission stops at 19:00 every day. Operating hours of on-site water activities are restricted by sunlight and sea conditions, usually ending between 17:30 and 18:00 on the day. Xiaomeisha Sea World has separate opening hours, generally from 9:30 to 18:00. In case of heavy rain, typhoon or other bad weather, the beach area will be temporarily closed. Actual opening status shall be subject to on-site announcements of the scenic spot.
