OCT East is located in Dameisha Area, Yantian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is a National 4A Tourist Attraction, China’s first National Ecotourism Demonstration Zone and one of the first batch of National-level Tourist Resorts. Developed by Overseas Chinese Town Group, the resort covers nearly 9 square kilometers. It is a large comprehensive mountain tourist resort integrating leisure vacation, sightseeing, outdoor sports, popular science education and ecological exploration. The resort consists of three major theme zones: Knight Valley, Tea Stream Valley and Sea Cloud Valley. It also includes three featured tourist towns, four resort hotels, two 36-hole mountain golf courses and the religious cultural zone of DahuaXing Temple. Built with eco-friendly development based on the original mountain forest landform of Sanzhoutian, the project retains mountains, streams and tea plantations. It combines diverse architectural styles including European towns, ancient Chinese villages and Buddhist temples. Mountain transport facilities such as jungle cable cars, sea cloud cableway and forest small trains connect natural ecological landscapes with theme amusement and humanistic vacation scenes, forming a mountain resort system where mountains meet the sea.

History and Culture

The site was originally the Sanzhoutian Area, which carries the revolutionary heritage of the Sanzhoutian Uprising. Ruins of ancient villages remain in the mountains. With a long tradition of mountain farming and tea cultivation, this area serves as an important carrier of local Shenzhen tea culture. In the planning phase, Overseas Chinese Town Group adopted the development principle of ecology first. It transformed the mountain environment through protective development to preserve native vegetation and terrain as much as possible and reduce construction damage to mountains. Construction officially started on December 31, 2004. Phase One began trial operation on July 28, 2007, and fully opened on August 1, 2009.

In 2007, the resort was awarded National Ecotourism Demonstration Zone. In 2014, it was rated a National 4A Tourist Attraction. In 2015, it was selected into the first batch of National-level Tourist Resorts. The resort created featured performances such as Tian Chan, and hosts theme events including mountain tea picking festival and blessing festival. It blends local tea culture, mountain folk custom, Buddhist culture and exotic town styles to build a unique mountain resort cultural system. In 2022, the resort launched a new round of overall upgrading and renovation. Some zones closed temporarily for construction. Among them, Knight Valley suspended business for upgrading starting from April 29, 2025, while Tea Stream Valley remains open to visitors.

Tea Weng Ancient Town showcases Lingnan tea culture and provides spaces for tea-making experience and tea art displays. Wetland Garden contains landscapes such as four-season flower fields and Flower Clock Church, with large areas of flowers blooming in different seasons.
