The Jilintai Waterfront Amusement Area is located in the central part of Nilka County, Yili, Xinjiang. It is a national 4A-level tourist area. In the scenic area, there are clusters of peaks and jagged rocks, boasting the beauty of the Three Gorges. Due to its clear water and calm water surface, it is also known as the "Peaceful and Clean Sea". With fresh air, magnificent buildings, and a broad water area, it forms a grand landscape of "a flat lake emerging from high gorges". When viewed from the air, it is like a green gem in the Kashi River of the Yili River Valley. Relying on the resources of the Jilintai First-level Hydropower Station, the largest hydropower station in Xinjiang, the scenic area has clusters of peaks in the canyon. An alpine lake with a length of 28.8 kilometers and an area of 49.2 square kilometers has been formed upstream of the canyon, and numerous islands and peninsulas have been formed along the edge of the reservoir. The infrastructure in the scenic area is complete, including an ecological hotel, a swimming pool, etc.
History and Culture
Jilintai is transliterated from "Jirentai", and "Jirentai" means longevity in Mongolian. The Nilka County where the scenic area is located has a long history and culture. There are many historical sites around, such as the Jirentai Gully Mouth Site and the Nulasai Copper Mine Site, which add profound cultural heritage to the scenic area. The Jirentai Gully Mouth Site is a large settlement site from the Bronze Age. A large number of cultural relics such as pottery, stone tools, and bronze wares have been unearthed, reflecting the life and culture of that time. The Nulasai Copper Mine Site is a copper mine site from the Han Dynasty. The unearthed mining tools and copper smelting relics reflect the mining and copper smelting technology of that time.
