History and Culture

On September 30, 2002, the Jiangbei District Party Committee and Government made a historic decision on the urban development of Guanyinqiao, deciding to build the Guanyinqiao business district into a "reasonably zoned, fully equipped, pedestrian-friendly, well-connected, and ecologically beautiful" commercial center within three years. Construction of the Guanyinqiao business district officially began in April 2003, involving the demolition of 400,000 square meters of buildings and six large-scale blasting operations. Through successive developments, the Guanyinqiao business district has grown into its current scale, becoming the political, economic, and cultural center of Jiangbei District, Chongqing.
