Dongfengyun Scenic Area is located in Changtangzi, Grape Sightseeing Avenue, Xinshao Town, Mile City, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction with a total planned area of 3.69 square kilometers and a core area of 1.6 square kilometers. Construction of the scenic area began in 2014, integrating diverse industries such as ecological agriculture, art and culture, and leisure vacation and health preservation. It gathers rich landscapes including a lavender manor, a wine manor, and an artists' manor, and is renowned for its unique architecture and beautiful natural scenery. Most of its buildings are constructed with local red bricks, designed by Mile-native artist Luo Xu. These buildings incorporate elements such as wine culture and the fire culture of the Axi people (a branch of the Yi ethnicity), featuring exotic shapes and a strong artistic atmosphere.

History and Culture

The predecessor of Dongfengyun Art Town was Mile Dongfeng Farm, which was founded in 1958. In 2011, Dongfeng Farm implemented the localization reform of management and was placed under the administration of the Mile County People's Government. Later, in 2014, the construction of the scenic area started, and it has gradually developed into a current tourist resort integrating art, culture, and leisure. Through exhibits such as old photos and farm tools, the Agricultural Reclamation Museum vividly reproduces the transformation of Dongfeng Farm from a reform-through-labor farm to an art town. The scenic area also regularly holds various cultural activities such as art exhibitions, music festivals, and photography exhibitions, fully demonstrating the local historical and cultural heritage as well as artistic achievements.

Major Attractions

Kaleidoscope Art Museum

This is the most popular "Internet-famous check-in spot" in the scenic area. Combining wine culture and the Yi people's fire culture, the building takes the shape of a castle resembling wine bottles and flames. It is entirely built with red bricks without using a single steel bar or nail. The spiral structure inside and the exhibition area with terracotta figurines for a thousand-people chorus are highly visually striking. The light and shadow inside the museum change with the seasons, and the light is at its best around 3 p.m. At this time, sunlight filters through the gaps between the bricks, creating a unique light pattern on the ground, like a maze. The museum is known as "a magical castle of magical futurism" and "a fairy-tale castle closest to your heart".

Lavender Theme Park (Colorful Flower Field)

It grows more than 10 kinds of flowers, including lavender, swallowtail grass, bellflower, and yellow crown chrysanthemum. From April to October every year, large areas of lavender bloom, contrasting with Dutch-style windmills, making people feel as if they are in Europe. It is known as the "Provence of Central Yunnan". There is an observation deck in the middle of the flower field, from which visitors can overlook the entire sea of flowers.

Half a Cloud

It inherits the architectural style of the Kaleidoscope Art Museum and gets its name because its shape is vividly like "half a cloud in the sky". Its layered outer walls resemble rolling clouds, and there is a Zen-style tea break space inside, making it a popular place for visitors to rest and take photos.
