Bay Glory Ferris Wheel

Bay Glory Ferris Wheel is located at the easternmost end of OH Bay Coastal Cultural Park in Bao'an District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It serves as the core landmark of the OH Bay cultural and tourism complex and is a large coastal Ferris wheel landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Ferris wheel has a total height of 128 meters and a rotor diameter of 113.3 meters. It is equipped with 28 imported full-view rotating cabins. Each cabin covers an area of approximately 16.8 square meters and can hold a maximum of 25 visitors. A full rotation takes 28 minutes. Adopting the world-first fin-shaped special-shaped large support frame design, it was designed and constructed by the team that built the London Eye and Ain Dubai. It is China's first Ferris wheel fitted with full-view rotating cabins. OH Bay Coastal Cultural Park covers a total area of about 380,000 square meters. The park is open to the public free of charge, while Bay Glory Ferris Wheel is an independent paid experience item. The cabins include regular sightseeing cabins and multiple custom themed cabins for weddings, VIP experiences and catering. The 360-degree panoramic glass allows visitors to overlook the sea view of Qianhai Bay and the skyline of Bao'an urban area in the air, making it a well-known coastal sightseeing check-in landmark in western Shenzhen.

History and Culture

As the core project of OH Bay Coastal Cultural Park, Bay Glory Ferris Wheel is invested and constructed by Overseas Chinese Town Group. Relying on urban renewal in the Bao'an coastal area, the project plans to build an international coastal urban landmark, combine urban public spaces with amusement facilities, and balance public recreation and cultural tourism sightseeing.

The construction of the project lasted about 3 years, and it officially opened for operation in April 2021. The completion of Bay Glory Ferris Wheel fills the gap of large urban landmarks along the coast of western Shenzhen and becomes one of the urban landscape symbols of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It showcases the urban scenery of Qianhai and Bao'an Coastal New City. During construction, multiple professional assessments including typhoon resistance and special equipment safety inspection were completed. It passed the appraisal by China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute and meets the requirements for long-term safe operation in coastal environments with high humidity and strong winds.

Since its opening, Bay Glory Ferris Wheel has formed a coastal leisure cultural tourism scene linked with OH Bay's water show, coastal boardwalk and commercial blocks. It has become a popular urban check-in spot in Shenzhen. With the experience of viewing the bay area from high altitude, it presents visitors the coastal urban landscape of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Main Attractions

The core landmark of OH Bay, with a total height of 128 meters. It has 28 full-view rotating cabins, each of which can carry 25 passengers. One full rotation takes 28 minutes. The cabins adopt fully transparent panoramic glass, offering 360-degree views of the sea surface of Qianhai Bay, cross-sea bridges and urban buildings in Bao'an. Riding it in the evening allows visitors to admire sunset glow and city night views at the same time. Custom themed cabins are available for customized activities such as high-altitude parties and weddings. When the LED lights on the wheel are lit at night, it forms a landmark night view of the coastal zone.

Coastal Seaview Boardwalk

A coastal trail built along the coastline of Qianhai Bay, adjacent to the Ferris wheel area. Observation platforms are set along the trail, serving as the main shooting spot for Bay Glory Ferris Wheel and its reflection on the sea surface. There are green landscapes and rest areas along the boardwalk, where visitors can feel the sea breeze up close and enjoy seascape. Visitors can take full photos of Bay Glory Ferris Wheel without riding it.

Celebration Plaza

The core public plaza of OH Bay, located on the south side of Bay Glory Ferris Wheel. It is the performance venue for music fountains and the Kunpeng Dream Water Show. The plaza has an open space where visitors can view the main structure of Bay Glory Ferris Wheel at close range. Light shows and water shows are held here at night, making it the core night tour area of the park.

Kunpeng Dream Water Show Theatre

Set on the waters of Celebration Plaza, performances combine water screens, lasers, music and fountains. It is a free viewing item in the park. Centered on marine culture, the water show features grand performances and is the core night attraction of OH Bay. It is closed every Monday, and performances may be cancelled temporarily in strong wind or rainy weather.

Zhongshuge Bookstore

Located on the east bank of OH Bay, it is an internet-famous bookstore. Its interior features spiral book walls with a strong literary atmosphere. Close to the entrance of Bay Glory Ferris Wheel, many visitors take this as their first check-in stop after entering the park. Visiting the bookstore is free, while reading and cultural and creative products are optional consumption.

Coastal Lawn

A large open coastal lawn next to the coastal boardwalk. Visitors can picnic and rest here. The lawn enjoys a wide view, suitable for shooting distant views of Bay Glory Ferris Wheel. It is a free public leisure area of the park.

Travel Tips

If you want to watch sunset and night views at the same time, it is recommended to reserve the Ferris wheel ride around 16:00 to 17:00, so you can enjoy daytime seascape, sunset and night lights successively.
Queuing time for Bay Glory Ferris Wheel is longer on weekends and holidays. It is recommended to buy tickets in advance through official online channels to reduce on-site waiting time, while there are fewer visitors on workdays.
UV radiation is strong by the sea, so take sun protection measures during daytime trips. The sea breeze turns strong in the evening, so bring a thin jacket.
Arrive at Celebration Plaza early to reserve a spot for the Kunpeng Dream Water Show. Do not stay too close to the water screen to avoid getting clothes wet by water mist.
The park covers a large area and the coastal boardwalk is an open-air trail, so wear comfortable flat shoes for the trip.
Bay Glory Ferris Wheel undergoes equipment maintenance on Tuesday mornings and opens at 17:00. Check the official WeChat account of Shenzhen OH Bay to confirm operation status before your visit.

Notes

Admission to OH Bay park is free. Only Bay Glory Ferris Wheel requires separate tickets. Beware of scalpers selling fake discount tickets around the scenic area. Purchase tickets only through official channels.
Ticket checking for Bay Glory Ferris Wheel stops 30 minutes before closing time. Plan your time properly to avoid missing ticket checking.
In severe weather such as heavy rain and strong wind, Bay Glory Ferris Wheel will suspend operation temporarily and water shows may also be cancelled. On-site announcements take priority.
Infants under 1 metre ride Bay Glory Ferris Wheel free of charge. Discount tickets are available for children from 1 metre to 1.4 metres tall and seniors aged 65 and above. Identity documents are required for verification upon entry.
Open flame barbecue is prohibited on the coastal lawn. Do not bring flammable and explosive items into the park.
While riding Bay Glory Ferris Wheel, climbing or leaning against the glass inside cabins is forbidden. Keep personal belongings safe to prevent drops.
The water show is closed every Monday. Plan your trip to avoid Mondays to prevent wasted visits.

Transportation

Metro: Take Shenzhen Metro Line 5 to Linhai Station, exit Exit B2 and walk about 5 minutes to reach the East Entrance of OH Bay.
Bus: Take bus routes M235, B828 or M379 and get off at Xiwan West Station or OH Bay West Station, then walk 3 to 8 minutes to enter the park.
Self-driving: Navigate to P1 and P2 parking lots on the East Bank of OH Bay. Parking fee is 15 yuan for the first hour and 3 yuan per subsequent half hour. A consumption of 200 yuan or more in a single order grants a 3-hour parking discount. Parking spaces are tight in the evening on weekends, so off-peak travel is recommended.

Opening Hours

OH Bay park is open 24 hours a day with free entry. Bay Glory Ferris Wheel follows scheduled opening hours: 10:30-22:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; equipment maintenance on Tuesdays, open from 17:00 to 22:00; 10:30-22:30 from Friday to Sunday; 10:30-23:00 on statutory holidays. Regular weekly, monthly and annual inspections will be carried out on Bay Glory Ferris Wheel, and it will suspend operation all day during annual inspection. Actual opening status is affected by weather and equipment maintenance. You may check announcements on the official WeChat account before travelling.
