Chongqing Cloud Eye Observation Deck is located on the 67th, 68th, and 69th floors of United International Building at No. 201 Xinhua Road, Jiefangbei Sub-district, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. Situated between Jiefangbei and Chaotianmen, the core business districts of Chongqing, it is one of the iconic high-altitude observation landmarks in the city. As a key check-in spot for overlooking the urban landscape along both banks of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, it offers a panoramic view of the confluence of the two rivers, as well as the full views of well-known landmarks such as Hongyadong, Chongqing Grand Theatre, and Raffles City. It is a must-visit destination to experience Chongqing's "three-dimensional and magical" urban characteristics. The United International Building stands at a total height of 318 meters, and the observation deck, located at an altitude of approximately 520 meters, features a 360-degree unobstructed circular viewing platform covering a total area of about 1,200 square meters, with the core viewing area accounting for around 800 square meters. With the core feature of "overlooking the three-dimensional mountain city from high altitudes and touching the urban skyline at zero distance", the scenic area integrates Chongqing's rivers, mountains, cities, and bridges into a harmonious whole.

History and Culture

Yuzhong District, where Cloud Eye Observation Deck is located, is the mother city and core historical and cultural area of Chongqing, carrying a thousand-year-old Ba-Yu cultural heritage. This area was an important settlement of the ancient Ba State and became a major commercial and trade hub in Southwest China during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In modern times, the Xinhua Road area served as Chongqing's financial and commercial center, preserving a large number of architectural relics from the Republican period, which endow the observation deck with a profound historical and cultural background.

The construction of the observation deck is closely linked to Chongqing's urban development. In 2018, the 52nd floor of United International Building was officially renovated into a high-altitude viewing platform and named "Cloud Eye". Its design concept is derived from Chongqing's urban positioning of "a city of mountains and rivers, a beautiful land", aiming to showcase the city's transformation from a "river city" to a "mountain city" and then to a "bridge capital" through a high-altitude perspective. As a supporting observation landmark for the Yangtze River Cableway, it complements the nearly 40-year-old cableway—while the former represents a modern high-altitude viewing experience, the latter carries the transportation memories of old Chongqing, together forming a cultural symbol of "integration of the old and the new" in Chongqing.

In addition, the area where the observation deck is located is an important carrier of Chongqing's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression culture. Surrounding it are historical relics such as Soong Ching-ling's Former Residence and the former site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Government. While enjoying the view, tourists can also feel the profound historical significance of Chongqing as the provisional capital during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, achieving an organic integration of natural landscapes and humanistic history.

Travel Tips

  • The best visiting times are 10:00-11:30 AM or 4:00-6:00 PM. During these periods, the light is suitable, avoiding strong direct sunlight that may affect photography while ensuring a clear view of the urban landscape. For night view appreciation, it is recommended to visit between 7:30-9:00 PM, when all urban lights are on, offering the best night view effect.
  • It is advisable to wear light-colored or solid-color clothing, as it creates a more distinct contrast with the background when taking photos at the Sky Mirror check-in spot, resulting in better shooting effects. Avoid wearing overly loose clothing or long skirts to prevent them from being blown by the wind and affecting safety.
  • When carrying shooting equipment such as mobile phones and cameras, it is recommended to equip them with anti-slip lanyards. The wind is strong at high altitudes, so please avoid equipment falling. You can download photo editing software in advance to conveniently process check-in photos on the spot.
  • The scenic area is usually crowded with tourists, especially during holidays. It is recommended to book tickets through official channels 1-3 days in advance to reduce on-site queuing time. For on-site ticket purchases, choose non-peak hours on weekdays and avoid the peak passenger flow between 12:00-2:00 PM.
  • If you want to gain an in-depth understanding of the city's culture, you can rent an intelligent interpreter at the scenic area entrance. The interpreter supports multi-language switching and provides more detailed explanations than the information boards.

  • During night visits, the platform floor may be slightly damp due to condensation. Please pay attention to anti-slip when walking. Avoid staying in dark areas for too long to ensure travel safety.
  • Engaging in profitable activities such as commercial shooting and live streaming with goods in the scenic area is prohibited. If professional shooting is required, please apply to the scenic area management office for registration in advance.
