Lianbaoyeze Scenic Area is located in Aba County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Situated at the junction of Sichuan, Gansu, and Qinghai provinces, it belongs to a branch of the southern section of the Bayan Har Mountains and is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The total area of the scenic area is approximately over 800 square kilometers, with the area within Aba County accounting for about 500 square kilometers. Featuring bizarre peaks and rocks, glacial relics, and snow-capped mountains and lakes, it is a provincial-level eco-tourism demonstration area. The highest altitude in the area reaches 5,141 meters, and the average altitude of the peaks is over 4,000 meters. The scenic area is home to major monasteries of the five sects of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as primitive and ancient Anduo Tibetan village architectural complexes.
History and Culture
Lianbaoyeze was an ancient battlefield where King Gesar fought. The Chinese meaning of "Lianbaoyeze" is "the dignified jade peak," and it is regarded as a sacred mountain in Tibetan areas. A large number of glacial relics remain here, witnessing glacial activities in Earth's history and holding high scientific research value. In addition, Gemo Monastery within the scenic area is one of the representative monasteries of the Gelug Sect. It holds two Guinness World Records, is one of the largest connected Buddhist hall buildings in China, and houses the relics of Sakyamuni inside.
Major Attractions
Zhagaer Co (Zhagaer Lake)
With an altitude of 4,300 meters, Zhagaer Co is one of the highest lakes in Aba County. The lake water is clear and emerald green, surrounded by mountains on all sides. The peaks are reflected in the lake, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene. Its peaks are magnificent and attractive; along the way, the mountain ranges are unique in shape, with numerous valleys, mountain streams, and exotic rocks, presenting rich and varied landscapes that combine softness, fortitude, grandeur, and elegance.
Longgacuo Lama (Longgacuo Lama Lake)
Longgacuo Lama Lake has an altitude of 3,995 meters and an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometers, making it the largest lake in the Lianbaoyeze Scenic Area of Aba County. The lake water is clear, reflecting the sky and the majestic granite mountains. Fish swim in the lake, waterbirds soar over the surface, and the lakeshore is broad and gentle.
Luoyun Co (Luoyun Lake)
Luoyun Co is a beautiful plateau freshwater lake, with an altitude of 4,150 meters and an area of about 0.5 square kilometers. The lake water is calm and deep, like a huge mirror. Fish dart through the lake, waterfalls cascade down the lakeshore, and the Ox-Heart Stone (Niuxin Stone) is delicate and smooth in texture with a rounded shape.
Huangya Tan (Yellow Duck Shoal)
Huangya Tan is home to a blue ice lake, with a water highway nearby. It is a popular spot for taking photos of the "S-curve highway" landscapes.
4520 Viewing Platform
Named after its altitude of 4,520 meters, the 4520 Viewing Platform offers a panoramic view of Zhagaer Co. Standing on the platform, visitors can feel the unique charm of nature and the mystery of the East.
Tour Routes
One option is to first visit the viewing platform for photos, then drive downhill to Zhagaer Co, and finally stop by natural landscapes such as Baixiang Lake, Penjing Beach, Luoxia Lake, and Meadow Flower Sea along the way down. Alternatively, you can refer to the following cross-regional route: Seda (Wuming Buddhist College) - Rangtang (Yeren Valley) - Aba County (Lianbaoyeze · Stone Mountain Scenic Area) - Maierma Town - Jialuo Town - Tangke (The First Bend of the Yellow River) - Ruoergai (Langmusi).
Travel Tips
- The scenic area is located at a high altitude. It is recommended to prepare anti-altitude sickness medicine in advance, take rest during the tour, and avoid strenuous exercise.
- Bring warm clothing, as the temperature difference between morning and evening in the scenic area is significant even in summer.
- Carry sun protection products, as ultraviolet radiation is strong in plateau areas.
- If time permits, arrange a 2-3 day trip to fully enjoy the beautiful scenery of the scenic area.

- Public Transport: Take a bus from Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station to Aba County (departure times are 6:40 and 7:50 every morning). After arriving in Aba County, hire a car to the scenic area.
