
Anjiagou Ecological Tourism Area is located in Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, about 5 kilometers away from the urban area of Zhangjiakou. The scenic area is famous for its unique combination of natural ecological landscapes and cultural landscapes, and is known as "the back garden of Zhangjiakou". The total area of the scenic area is 4.25 square kilometers, with a ditch length of about 4620 meters. There are many natural landscapes such as waterfalls, streams, and forests in the area. At the same time, supporting facilities for leisure and vacation, entertainment experiences, etc. have been built. Most of the buildings in the scenic area adopt an antique architectural style, integrating with the natural landscape. The iconic buildings include the tourist center and the antique corridor, with a total construction area of about 8,000 square meters, providing tourists with a comfortable environment for sightseeing and rest.
History and Culture
Anjiagou has a long history. As early as the Ming and Qing dynasties, this place was an important area where local villagers depended for their livelihood. The mountain springs and land in the ditch have nourished generations of villagers. According to historical records, there were many water mills in the ditch at that time, which used water power to process grain and became an important part of local agricultural production. The ruins of these water mills still remain in the scenic area, witnessing the development of local ancient agricultural civilization.
In addition, Anjiagou also has special historical significance in modern times. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, it was one of the important activity areas for the Eighth Route Army to carry out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines. The complex terrain in the ditch was convenient for concealment and transfer, making certain contributions to the victory of the War of Resistance. The scenic area displays this period of history through exhibition boards, sculptures, etc., allowing tourists to understand the struggle history of revolutionary ancestors while enjoying the natural landscape.
Main Attractions
Dragon Path
It is a golden corridor, winding and coiling on the mountain, like a huge dragon. It is said that in the 36th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxi passed through here on his triumphant return from his personal expedition against Galdan. After hearing the legends in the ditch, he stopped and entered the ditch for sightseeing. The road he took when going up the mountain is now the "Dragon Path". The corridor is cool and pleasant, making it a good place to enjoy the cool.

Divine Turtle Stone
Located near the entrance of the scenic area, it is the first of the three wonders of Anjiagou. There are five divine turtles carved on a large stone. It is said that the divine turtles guard the mountain gate day and night and are the patron saints of Anjiagou. Tourists like to touch the divine turtles, hoping to bring good luck, and there are sayings such as "touch the head of the divine turtle, and you will have no worries in life".

Moon Bay
The lake water here is clear, with shimmering scales. White ducks swim leisurely, and anglers enjoy themselves. It is a poetic attraction in the scenic area.


Zhangxian Sky Bridge
It is a glass bridge in the scenic area, with a length of 180 meters, a width of 2.02 meters, and a vertical height of more than 100 meters. Walking on the plank road, the reflections of the blue sky and white clouds cover the entire plank road. Tourists can experience the thrill while enjoying the beautiful scenery in the ditch from a distance.


Fengling Waterfall
Walking up the ditch, you can hear the "splashing" sound of water. Fengling Waterfall pours down from above, and the splashing water hits the edges and corners of the rocks, which is very spectacular. It can make tourists feel the ethereal mood of "when you reach the end of the water, sit and watch the clouds rise".

Antique Water Mill
The antique water mill was restored and rebuilt on the basis of the original site, following the style of water mills in the Ming and Qing dynasties, covering an area of about 150 square meters. The water wheels, stone mills and other facilities in the mill are all antique designs, which can truly reproduce the scene of processing grain by water power in those years. Tourists can learn about the working principle of ancient water mills here and feel the wisdom of traditional agricultural production.

Xiangqing Garden (Hometown Feelings Garden)
The garden displays physical objects of utensils used by the people of Zhangjiakou decades or even a hundred years ago, such as dou (a kind of measuring tool), pulley, stone plate, stone mill, colander, etc. It shows the local farming culture and folk customs, allowing tourists to feel a strong rural atmosphere.

Tour Route
Tourists can enter from the main gate of the scenic area and first come to the tourist center to learn about the overview of the scenic area and get a tourist map. Then walk about 500 meters along the main road to reach Baihua Garden (Hundred Flowers Garden) to enjoy various flowers. After leaving Baihua Garden, walk about 800 meters northwest to reach the antique water mill to visit and experience the ancient water mill culture. Then continue to walk about 1000 meters to reach the Water Curtain Cave to enjoy the peculiar cave and water curtain landscape. After visiting the Water Curtain Cave, walk about 1200 meters northeast to reach Cuihu Lake (Green Lake), where you can choose to take a boat tour or rest by the lake. Then go to the top viewing platform, which is about 700 meters away. After overlooking the whole scenic area from the viewing platform, you can experience the high-altitude zip line to go down the mountain, or walk about 1500 meters back to the exit of the scenic area. This route is about 5.7 kilometers in total, and the tour time is about 4-5 hours, which can cover the main attractions of the scenic area.
Travel Suggestions
- It is recommended to spend 1-2 days here. If time permits, you can stay in the resort hotel in the scenic area for one night to experience the quiet night in the mountains.
- The best travel seasons are spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October). In spring, hundreds of flowers are in full bloom; in autumn, the climate is cool and the scenery is pleasant. In summer, you can avoid the heat; in winter, you can enjoy the snow scenery, each with its own characteristics.
- The walking distance in the scenic area is relatively long, so it is recommended to wear comfortable sports shoes and avoid high-heeled shoes.
- You can bring an appropriate amount of drinking water and snacks. Although there are catering points in the scenic area, the prices are relatively high.

- Bus: You can take bus No. 16 in the urban area of Zhangjiakou, get off at Anjiagou Station, and walk about 500 meters to reach the main gate of the scenic area. The bus interval is about 15-20 minutes, and the first and last bus time is 6:30-18:30.
- Self-driving: Starting from the urban area of Zhangjiakou, drive west along Xibagang Road for about 3 kilometers, then turn into Anjiagou Road, and go straight for about 2 kilometers to reach the scenic area parking lot. The parking lot can accommodate about 300 vehicles, and the parking fee is 5 yuan per hour.
- Taxi: Taking a taxi from the urban area of Zhangjiakou to Anjiagou Ecological Tourism Area takes about 15 minutes, and the cost is about 20-30 yuan.
Opening Hours
The opening hours are adjusted according to the season. In the peak season (April 1 - October 31), the opening hours are 8:00-18:00; in the off-season (November 1 - March 31 of the next year), the opening hours are 9:00-17:00. The scenic area stops selling tickets one hour before closing. Tourists need to arrange their visiting time reasonably to avoid missing the closing time.
