Once a royal forbidden area of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, it was closed for 254 years, resulting in an excellent ecological environment with a high forest coverage rate. It is a large green space in the eastern Beijing area and a well-known "natural oxygen bar" in the northern Tianjin area. The annual average temperature ranges from 6.5℃ to 10.3℃, and the average summer temperature is about 21℃, making it an ideal place for summer resort and cooling. There are many characteristic buildings in the scenic area, including the Longmen Cableway with an oblique length of 1000 meters and a height difference of 180 meters; the Tenglong Sightseeing Elevator with a height of 98 meters; and the Glass Bridge with a length of 226 meters, suspended at an altitude of 650 meters.
Historical Culture
In 1661, Xinglong Mountain Scenic Area was designated as a "Houlong Fengshui" forbidden area. To protect the fengshui here, the Qing government relocated the local people, prohibited all logging and farming activities, and set up the Malan Town Garrison Commander, with soldiers stationed for long-term guard. Over the next 254 years, this area remained closed, and the original natural ecosystem was well preserved.
In 1915, with the issuance of the decree to lift the ban, this forbidden area, once used as the "Houlong Fengshui" for mausoleums, gradually came into people's view. Xinglong Mountain was originally named "Gushan (Lonely Mountain)". In 1755 AD, the Qing Dynasty set up a patrol station here, and later it was renamed Xinglong Mountain. Due to its special connection with the Eastern Qing Tombs, it has been given cultural labels such as "Royal Back Garden" and "Houlong Secret Land".
