Meixin Red Wine Town is located in Linshi Sub-district, Fuling District, Chongqing City, at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Lixiang Stream, adjacent to the ancient town of Linshi. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, as well as a comprehensive tourist destination integrating leisure and entertainment, folk customs, red wine culture and parent-child activities. Its core feature lies in the integration of European style with Bayu folk customs and the combination of red wine culture with rural leisure. The town covers a planned area of about 5 square kilometers, with a core construction area of around 1.8 square kilometers, boasting more than 200 buildings of various types, including approximately 80 European-style buildings and 120 traditional Bayu residential buildings, with a total construction area of 150,000 square meters. Relying on the landscape pattern and historical heritage of the ancient town of Linshi, the scenic area has built a tourism complex themed on red wine culture, including amusement facilities, characteristic commerce, homestays and catering, and folk experience. It not only preserves the historical style of the old town but also integrates elements of modern leisure tourism, becoming a popular check-in spot for leisure tourism in the suburbs of Fuling and even Chongqing.

History and Culture

The Linshi Sub-district where Meixin Red Wine Town is located has a long history. The ancient town of Linshi was founded in the Tang Dynasty, with a history of over 1,300 years. It got its name because it was rich in rush grass in ancient times. As a thousand-year-old town by the Yangtze River, it has always been an important commercial and trade town along the Fuling section of the river and once served as a key node for material distribution in the eastern Sichuan area. It preserves a large number of buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties and folk cultural relics, such as Longmen Bridge and Wanshou Palace, which have witnessed the commercial prosperity and cultural inheritance of the ancient town of Linshi.

In 2003, Meixin Group settled in Linshi Sub-district and began to build a tourist attraction themed on red wine culture relying on the local natural landscape and ancient town heritage, integrating red wine culture with the Bayu folk customs of the ancient town of Linshi. During the development of the scenic area, great attention was paid to the protection and inheritance of local historical culture. It preserved the bluestone roads, old docks and traditional dwellings of the ancient town of Linshi, and at the same time introduced cultural experience projects such as red wine brewing, tasting and exhibition, forming a unique cultural integration model of "red wine + ancient town". In addition, the scenic area has excavated local intangible cultural heritage such as Chuankiang Haozi (boatmen's work songs), Fuling pickled mustard tuber making techniques and Linshi dry boat dance, and regularly holds folk cultural activities, allowing tourists to experience the charm of traditional culture in the Bayu area while traveling.

With the development of the scenic area, Meixin Red Wine Town has gradually become an important benchmark for the integration of culture and tourism in Fuling. Its model of integrating industrial brand culture (Meixin), red wine culture and ancient town historical culture has also provided a reference for rural tourism and ancient town development. In 2010, the scenic area was rated as a national 3A-level tourist attraction. Since then, it has continuously improved cultural and tourism facilities and enriched cultural experience content, becoming one of the representative scenic areas for the integration of culture and tourism in the suburbs of Chongqing. In 2024, it was rated as a national 4A-level tourist attraction, adding the "Rural Revitalization Eye" Ferris wheel with an altitude of nearly 800 meters. In 2025, it was awarded the title of "Sichuan-Chongqing Night Landmark".
