Historical Culture

Guyuan County, where Gushui Fuyuan Resort is located, has a profound grassland cultural heritage, as it was a place where nomadic peoples such as the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Turkic, Khitan, and Mongols thrived in history. The scenic area, relying on the local historical background, has explored and displayed rich nomadic cultural elements.

As one of the sources of the Luan River, Shandian River has historically been an important passage for exchanges between northern nomadic peoples and the Central Plains, witnessing the integration and development of multiple ethnic groups. The folk culture exhibition area in the resort reproduces the living scenes, hunting methods, and sacrificial rituals of ancient nomadic peoples through cultural relic displays and scene restoration, allowing tourists to intuitively feel the historical changes of grassland culture. In addition, regular activities such as the Mongolian Nadam Fair and Aobao Worship held in the scenic area inherit the traditional customs of the Mongolian people and enhance tourists' experience of grassland history and culture.

Main Attractions

Shandian Lake (Grassland Lake, Shandian River Reservoir)

Shandian Lake is the core landscape of Gushui Fuyuan Resort. It gets its name because the river winds like a lightning bolt. The water area is over 6,000 mu, with an average depth of 5 meters and a maximum depth of 12 meters. The surrounding area of the reservoir is rich in water plants, making it a habitat for many waterfowl. Every spring and autumn, dozens of species of birds such as swans, cranes, and wild ducks stop and breed here, forming a unique wetland bird-watching landscape. Tourists can take a cruise ship (about 15 meters long, accommodating 30 people) to tour on the water, enjoying the grassland scenery and wetland ecology on both sides. They can also fish in designated areas. The reservoir is rich in crucian carp, carp, grass carp and other fish, providing a good place for fishing enthusiasts.

Shuzhuanglou Yuan Dynasty Tombs

The Shuzhuanglou Yuan Dynasty Tombs are located approximately 2.2 kilometers away from Gushui Fuyuan Resort. It features a brick arch structure without beams, with a total height of 9.1 meters and a square architectural plan. Archaeological excavations in 1999 revealed that there is a Mongolian noble tomb in the center of the building. The tomb owner is inferred to be Külüg Khan, the grandson of Kublai Khan, Emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty. Precious cultural relics such as clothing and gold ornaments with Mongolian characteristics of the Yuan Dynasty were unearthed from the tomb. The discovery of this tomb group provides important material evidence for the study of burial customs, etiquette systems, religious beliefs, architectural styles, and costume evolution of the Mongolian and other ethnic tribes during the Yuan Dynasty.
