Historical Culture
Datan Town has a long history. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, it was an important pasture of the Yan State. In the Yuan Dynasty, Kublai Khan trained his iron cavalry here, then marched into the Central Plains, and finally unified the whole country. In the Qing Dynasty, the Rehe Horse Ranch was established here, known as "Hailiutu" (meaning a place with abundant water and grass). The most elite cavalry of the Qing Dynasty - the "100,000 Rehe Iron Cavalry" once raised horses and stationed troops here.
Horse Town Tourist Resort was an important part of the imperial hunting ground of the Qing Dynasty in history. Emperors such as Kangxi and Qianlong made many tours and hunts here. Relying on the natural resources of Fengning Bashang Grassland and the cultural heritage of Manchu and Mongolian, the scenic area reproduces the magnificent momentum of the imperial hunting ground of the Qing Dynasty.
Horses play an important role in the production and life of the people on Bashang. There are more than 8,000 horses locally, making it one of the towns with the largest number of horses in the country. China Horse Town Resort gets its name from this, carrying and continuing the historical and cultural memories related to horses.
