Tianjin Happy Valley is located at No. 1 Yingle Road, Dongli Lake, Dongli District, Tianjin. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction and the sixth theme park under the Happy Valley chain brand of Overseas Chinese Town Group. The scenic area features "dynamic, fashionable, joyful and dreamy" as its core characteristics, integrating various thrilling amusement facilities, wonderful performances and rich themed landscapes. It is a large comprehensive theme park integrating entertainment, leisure and vacation. The park covers an area of about 350,000 square meters, consisting of a land park, Maya Beach Water Park (seasonally open) and a cultural performance center, divided into five themed areas: Happy Time, Viking Harbor, Christmas Village, Performance Center and Maya Beach. The park has 56 amusement facilities, more than 20 themed landscapes, and arranges about 90 various performances every day. Meanwhile, relying on the 70,000-square-meter Dongli Lake area, it has created a green landscape area of more than 80,000 square meters, providing tourists with a comfortable playing environment.

History and Culture

The construction of Tianjin Happy Valley started in May 2009. It was signed and approved by Tianjin Overseas Chinese Town Industrial Co., Ltd. and is an important part of the Tianjin Overseas Chinese Town cultural tourism comprehensive project. In 2012, Tianjin Overseas Chinese Town Lihu Tourism Development Co., Ltd. Happy Valley Branch was registered and established, marking the official start of the construction of the scenic area.

On July 27, 2013, Tianjin Happy Valley grandly opened, filling the gap of large-scale theme parks in Tianjin. As an important layout of Overseas Chinese Town Group's cultural tourism industry, Tianjin Happy Valley not only inherits the happy genes of the Happy Valley brand in its design, but also combines local cultural elements of Tianjin, integrating local characteristics through performances, decorations and other forms, allowing tourists to experience joy and excitement while feeling a certain regional cultural atmosphere during the tour. Since its opening, the scenic area has continuously optimized its facilities and services. In March 2022, it was rated as one of the first municipal-level civilized tourism demonstration units in Tianjin, becoming an important landmark in Tianjin's cultural tourism industry.

Main Attractions

Xiawan Feilong (Fjord Flying Dragon)

Xiawan Feilong is the iconic roller coaster project of Tianjin Happy Valley, located in the Viking Harbor theme area. The roller coaster has a track length of about 1,200 meters and a height of 35 meters. It is constructed with a combination of wooden and steel structures, with a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour. During the ride, tourists will experience multiple high-speed dives, flips and spirals, feeling strong centrifugal force and weightlessness. It is one of the most popular thrilling projects among young people in the park.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is located in the Happy Time theme area, which is an amusement facility designed specifically for families and children. With the classic game "Angry Birds" as the theme, this project includes multiple sub-projects such as a carousel, a small roller coaster and interactive shooting. Among them, the carousel has 36 cute "bird" and "pig" shaped cabins. When operating, it is accompanied by cheerful music, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, suitable for parent-child experience.

Maya Beach Water Park

Maya Beach Water Park is a seasonal water amusement area of Tianjin Happy Valley, covering an area of about 150,000 square meters and opening every summer. The park has a variety of water facilities, including the 27-meter-high "Extreme Shark Kiss" slide, the 500-meter-long "Drift River", and the "Maya Beach" wave pool that can accommodate 3,000 people. In addition, there is a "Mini Water Village" designed specifically for children, equipped with small slides and water playing devices, which is a popular destination for family water activities in summer.

Christmas Village

The Christmas Village theme area is themed on Christmas and creates a strong festive atmosphere throughout the year. The buildings in the area adopt Nordic style, decorated with Christmas trees, sleighs, reindeer and other elements. There is a "Christmas Train" for tourists to take a tour, and a characteristic gift shop selling Christmas-themed products. During the Christmas period in winter, the scenic area will hold light shows and parade activities to further enhance the holiday experience.

Performance Center

The Performance Center is the core performance venue of Tianjin Happy Valley, which can accommodate about 1,500 audiences. The center regularly stages the large-scale original theme show "Jin Xiu", which combines acrobatics, dance, multimedia effects and other elements to tell the historical and cultural stories of Tianjin and show the development and changes of the city. In addition, the center will also hold various temporary performances such as concerts and magic shows from time to time, providing tourists with a variety of viewing experiences.

Goubuli Baozi (Goubuli Steamed Buns)

Goubuli Baozi is a characteristic food of Tianjin, with a branch in the food square of Happy Valley. Its buns are famous for their thin skin, large filling and even folds, with 18 folds in each bun. The filling is made of fresh pork, mixed with green onions, ginger and other seasonings, with a tender and juicy taste. The Goubuli Baozi in the scenic area offers a variety of flavors, such as pork with green onions and three delicacies, making it convenient for tourists to taste Tianjin's famous snacks during their visit.

Erduoyan Zha Gao (Erduoyan Fried Cakes)

Erduoyan Zha Gao is a traditional Tianjin snack, available in the characteristic snack area of Happy Valley. The fried cakes are made of glutinous rice flour as the skin, filled with red bean paste, and after frying, the outer skin is crispy, the inner part is soft and glutinous, sweet but not greasy. The Erduoyan Zha Gao in the scenic area is made and sold on the spot, steaming hot, and is one of the favorite snacks of tourists, with a reasonable price, usually about 6 yuan each.

Happy Valley Themed Restaurants

There are several themed restaurants in Happy Valley, such as "Nordic Restaurant" in Viking Harbor and "Happy Restaurant" in Happy Time. Nordic Restaurant focuses on Western-style light meals, offering hamburgers, French fries, sausages, etc. Among them, the signature "Viking Roast Chicken Leg" uses high-quality chicken legs, marinated with secret sauce and then roasted, with tender meat, priced at 25 yuan per serving. Happy Restaurant mainly serves Chinese fast food, including rice with dishes on top and noodles. For example, "Kung Pao Chicken with Rice" is served with fresh vegetables and rice, priced at 28 yuan per serving, meeting the dietary needs of different tourists.

Surrounding Food

There are many restaurants within 3 kilometers around the scenic area, among which "Dongli Lake Farmhouse Cuisine" is more well-known. The restaurant offers farm-style dishes such as Tie Bobo Ao Xiaoyu (steamed corn cakes with small fish) and Braised Chicken with Mushrooms. Tie Bobo Ao Xiaoyu uses fresh small fish from Dongli Lake, stewed with corn cakes, with a delicious taste, and the per capita consumption is about 60 yuan. In addition, there are barbecue restaurants and hot pot restaurants, which are suitable for dining after the visit.

Opening Hours

The opening hours will be adjusted according to seasons and holidays.

Regular period (non-holidays): The Land Park is open from 9:30 to 18:00 from Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and Sunday; Maya Beach Water Park is only open from June to August every year, with opening hours from 10:00 to 21:00 (extended to 22:00 on weekends and holidays).

Holidays (such as Spring Festival, National Day, etc.): The Land Park is open from 9:00 to 20:00, and Maya Beach Water Park (holidays in summer) is open from 10:00 to 22:00.

Tour Route

A classic one-day tour route is recommended (applicable to non-summer, excluding the water park):

Enter from the main gate of the scenic area at 9:30 am, first go to the Viking Harbor theme area to experience the "Xiawan Feilong" roller coaster and feel the excitement; then play projects such as "Thor's Hammer" in the same area, go to the Happy Time theme area at about 11:00, experience the "Angry Birds" series of children's projects with family, and have lunch at Happy Restaurant at 12:00.

Go to Christmas Village at 13:30 pm, take the "Christmas Train" for a tour and visit the themed shops; go to the Performance Center at 14:30 to watch the 15:00 performance of "Jin Xiu"; after the performance, return to the Happy Time theme area at 16:30 to experience moderately exciting projects such as "High Altitude Flying"; taste snacks such as Erduoyan Zha Gao at the food square at 17:30; end the visit and leave the scenic area at 18:00.

Transportation

  • Subway: Take Tianjin Metro Line 2 to "Airport Economic Zone Station", transfer to Bus 696 to "Tianjin Overseas Chinese Town Happy Valley Station", and walk about 5 minutes to the scenic area entrance, with a total journey of about 1 hour.
  • Bus: There are several bus routes from the urban area. Among them, Bus 663 departs from Tianjin Railway Station and directly reaches "Tianjin Overseas Chinese Town Happy Valley Station", with a journey of about 1.5 hours and a departure interval of 30 minutes.
  • Self-driving: Starting from downtown Tianjin, drive east along Weiguo Avenue, turn into Jinhan Highway, then enter Dongli Lake Road, and follow the road signs to reach the scenic area. The total distance is about 30 kilometers, and the driving time is 40 minutes. The scenic area has a parking lot, with a charging standard of 5 yuan per hour and a daily maximum of 20 yuan.
  • Tourist special line: During holidays, the scenic area will open tourist special lines from major urban business districts (such as Binjiangdao, Tianjin Railway Station) to Happy Valley. For specific schedules, please check the official information of the scenic area.

  • It is recommended to spend 1 day for the tour. If you go in summer, you can consider visiting the land park and water park in two days to avoid a rush schedule.
  • There are many tourists on weekends and holidays. It is recommended to go on weekdays or arrive 30 minutes before the park opens to experience popular projects first and reduce waiting time.
  • The park is large, so it is recommended to wear comfortable sports shoes. You can carry a folding umbrella with you to cope with sudden weather changes.
  • Catering prices are slightly higher than in urban areas. You can bring appropriate snacks and drinking water (non-glass bottles). There are free drinking water points in the scenic area.

Matters Needing Attention

  • Some amusement facilities have height and weight restrictions. For example, Xiawan Feilong requires a height of more than 1.4 meters and a weight of less than 90 kilograms. Please check the sign next to the facility before playing.
  • When playing in the water park, you must abide by the park regulations, enter in swimwear, wear a helmet for some slides, and follow the instructions of the staff.
  • It is forbidden to carry inflammable and explosive items, pets and glass products in the scenic area. You need to cooperate with security checks when entering the park.
