
Taizhou Fucheng Cultural Tourism Zone is located in Baita Town, Danzhu Township, and Tianshi Town of Xianju County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is a national 5A-level tourist attraction, a national scenic spot, and a national geopark. The total area of the scenic zone is approximately 15.8 square kilometers, with the core scenic area covering about 10.4 square kilometers. It features a unique geological structure, belonging to the world's largest cluster of volcanic rhyolite landforms. Renowned for its grandeur, steepness, strangeness, seclusion, clarity, and elegance, it has formed six wonders: "Guanyin, Tathagata, Tianmu Peak, Sea of Clouds, Waterfalls, and Tadpole Scripts". The negative ion content in the scenic area is extremely high, averaging 21,000 per cubic centimeter and reaching a maximum of 88,000 per cubic centimeter, thus earning it the reputation of a "natural oxygen bar". The scenic area has two entrances/exits, south and north, connected by Nantian Cableway and Beihai Cableway, with total lengths of 202 meters and 2116 meters respectively, providing convenience for tourists' visits.
Historical Culture
Taizhou Fucheng has a long history, with its city-building history dating back to the Eastern Jin Dynasty, more than 1,600 years ago. Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been the political, economic, and cultural center of the Taizhou region. It has been renovated and expanded in successive dynasties, forming the current large-scale and reasonably laid-out ancient city pattern.
The Linhai Ancient City Wall is the core carrier of the historical culture of the scenic area. It was first built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and has been repaired in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The existing city wall is over 6,000 meters long, 7-8 meters high, and 4-6 meters wide. It consists of barbicans, watchtowers, horse-faced towers, crenels, etc., and has the dual functions of military defense and flood control. This "integration of city defense and water conservancy" architectural feature is rare among ancient city walls in China.
Ziyang Ancient Street is an important part of the historical culture of Taizhou Fucheng. It is named in memory of Zhang Boduan (styled Ziyang), the founder of the Southern Sect of Taoism in the Southern Song Dynasty. The street is 1,080 meters long and 4-5 meters wide, retaining the street pattern and architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are a large number of time-honored shops, dwellings, temples, etc. along the street, making it one of the best-preserved ancient commercial streets in the eastern Zhejiang region.

Taizhou Fucheng Wall (Jiangnan Great Wall)
Taizhou Fucheng Wall, also known as the Jiangnan Great Wall, is the core attraction of the scenic area. It was first built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and the existing wall was built in the Ming Dynasty, with a total length of over 6,000 meters, and about 5,000 meters remaining. The city wall is built along the Lingjiang River, following the contour of the mountains, winding and undulating. It has 7 city gates, including Jingyue Gate, Xingshan Gate, Zhenning Gate, Wangjiang Gate, and Kuocang Gate, among which Jingyue Gate, Xingshan Gate, and Zhenning Gate are equipped with barbicans. There are also 13 watchtowers, 14 horse-faced towers, and numerous crenels on the city wall, with complete military defense facilities. The highest point of the city wall is Wanghai Tower on Beigu Mountain, at an altitude of about 100 meters. Climbing the tower, you can overlook the entire Linhai ancient city and the scenery of the Lingjiang River.
Ziyang Ancient Street
Ziyang Ancient Street is located in the core area of Taizhou Fucheng, with a total length of 1,080 meters and a width of 4-5 meters. It is a well-preserved ancient street from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The street is paved with bluestone slabs, and on both sides are two-story wooden buildings, mostly in the pattern of "shop in front, residence at the back" or "shop below, residence above". It retains a large number of time-honored shops, such as the "Fengcunren Hall" pharmacy founded during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty and the "Xiechengchang" cloth shop from the Republic of China period. The ancient street also has historical sites such as Ziyang Palace, Sanfuji, and Jiusi Lane, as well as many traditional workshops, showing a strong local folk customs.
Donghu Lake
Donghu Lake is located on the east side of Taizhou Fucheng. It is an artificial lake, first built during the Qingli period of the Northern Song Dynasty, presided over by Qian Xuan, the county magistrate of Linhai at that time. Originally named "Release Pond", it has been repaired and expanded many times to form its current scale. The lake covers an area of about 28,000 square meters, divided into three parts: the front lake, the back lake, and Xiaojian Lake. There are islands, bridges, pavilions, and other landscapes in the lake, with main attractions including Huxinting Pavilion, Bangou Pavilion, and Luolinhaici Shrine. Donghu Lake is connected to the Taizhou Fucheng Wall, and the lake and mountain scenery complement the ancient city wall, forming a beautiful picture of a Jiangnan water town.
Jinshan Mountain
Jinshan Mountain is located on the southeast side of Taizhou Fucheng. It is named because its shape resembles a headscarf worn by ancient men to tie their hair, with an altitude of about 157 meters, and is one of the landmark peaks of Linhai. There are many historic sites on the mountain, mainly including Longxing Temple built in the Tang Dynasty, Qianfo Pagoda in the Song Dynasty, and Jinshan Pagoda Group in the Ming Dynasty. Longxing Temple is an important temple in the history of Taizhou Buddhism and was once one of the ancestral courts of the Tiantai Sect in Japan. The temple preserves a large number of Buddhist cultural relics and historical sites. Qianfo Pagoda, also known as Duobao Pagoda, was built during the Dazhong Xiangfu period of the Northern Song Dynasty, with a height of about 30 meters. The tower body is carved with more than 1,000 Buddha statues, with exquisite shapes, and is a key cultural relics protection unit in Zhejiang Province.
Jiangnan Badaling
Jiangnan Badaling is a section of the Taizhou Fucheng Wall, located in the Beigu Mountain section. It is named because of its dangerous terrain and steep city wall, resembling the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing. This section of the city wall is about 1,400 meters long, with an altitude drop of about 70 meters, equipped with 10 watchtowers and multiple crenels, and is the part with the most prominent military defense function in the entire city wall. Climbing Jiangnan Badaling, you can experience the grandeur and steepness of the Great Wall, and at the same time, enjoy the beauty of the Lingjiang River and the Linhai urban area.

Linhai Wheat Shrimp
Linhai Wheat Shrimp is a traditional characteristic snack of Taizhou Fucheng, with a history of hundreds of years. Its production method is to mix flour with water into a paste, pick it into boiling water with chopsticks to form strip-shaped pasta like shrimps, then add shrimps, clams, shredded pork, bamboo shoots, green vegetables and other ingredients to cook. Ziyang Street Seaweed Cake

Linhai Zao Geng (Fermented Rice Soup)
Linhai Zao Geng is a traditional snack of Taizhou Fucheng, divided into sweet and salty types, usually eaten during the Lantern Festival.
