History and Culture
The name Niulanggang derives from the folk love legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. It is said that the Weaver Girl once stayed here for fun when she came down to the mortal world, facing the Cowherd across the sea. Therefore, the scenic spot carries the cultural connotation of sincere romantic love and has become a famous love-themed coastal scenic area in eastern Fujian. For thousands of years, local fishermen have made a living by fishing here from generation to generation, regarding Niulanggang as a blessed coastal land and forming simple fishing folk customs.
The Taimushan area in Fuding where the scenic spot is located has been an important transportation hub along the coast of Fujian and Zhejiang since ancient times. Maritime trade and fishery culture blend here. As a natural sheltered harbor, Niulanggang has witnessed the changes of local coastal residents' production and life. In modern times, it has gradually developed from a natural fishing village into a standardized tourist attraction. While protecting the original coastal landforms, it inherits folk legends and fishing culture, evolving into a coastal tourist resort with both natural charm and profound cultural heritage.
