Zhonghua Fushoushan Scenic Area is located in Daxigou Township, Huocheng County, Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The scenic area is rated as a national 4A-level scenic spot, with a planned area of 180 square kilometers. It is a comprehensive tourist area integrating ecological sightseeing, cultural experience, leisure vacation, self-cultivation, science popularization and adventure. There are about more than 60 kinds of wild fruits growing in the scenic area, which is a natural gene bank of wild fruit plants in the world. It is also the only growing place of wild Prunus cerasifera in Asia and has been named the "Hometown of Chinese Wild Prunus cerasifera" by the state. In the scenic area, the mountains rise and fall, the river winds, colorful strange stones are densely distributed along the riverbed, the mountain slopes are full of blooming flowers, the trees are lush, the air is fresh, and the natural environment is very beautiful.
Historical Culture
As early as 1221 AD, Taoist Master Qiu Chuji, the founder of the Longmen Sect of Taoism, made a special trip to Fushoushan and gave lectures on Taoism and practiced here. During the Qing Dynasty, it gradually developed into the largest Taoist activity place in Xinjiang. The Daxigou Temple in the scenic area, also known as Niangniang Temple and Fushoushan Temple, was once the most influential Taoist activity center in Xinjiang during the Qing Dynasty. In ancient times, the Daxigou Temple Fair was quite large-scale, starting from the 20th day of the 6th lunar month and lasting until the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, for a total of 17 days. During the temple fair, there are not only wonderful performances such as opera singing and acrobatics, but also vendors of various ethnic groups setting up stalls. The pilgrims who come to burn incense and pray for blessings are in an endless stream, and its influence extends as far as Urumqi, Hami and other places.
