The core area of the park covers 3126.7 mu, including 393 mu of water area and 2733.7 mu of land area. It has 4 main venues such as the Science Popularization Hall, Intelligent Greenhouse, and Visitor Center, as well as large-scale grape planting areas, landscape green spaces, and supporting facilities. It gathers more than 1,000 grape varieties from around the world, serving as an important window to display the world's grape culture and industrial development. It is also a popular science base in Beijing and a resource unit for the social classroom of primary and middle school students in Beijing.

History and Culture

The construction of the World Grape Expo Park is closely related to the history of grape cultivation in Yanqing. Zhangshanying Town in Yanqing District has a long tradition of grape cultivation. As early as the 1980s, it began to grow grapes on a large scale, especially famous for wine grapes. It is one of the important grape producing areas in North China. The local grape cultivation techniques and culture have been accumulated and inherited in long-term practice.

The official construction of the park started in 2013, aiming to host the 2014 World Grape Congress, which is a grand event in the global grape industry held every 4 years. It was held in China for the first time and chose Yanqing as the venue. With the help of this congress, the World Grape Expo Park was built and opened to the public, becoming a platform integrating the display of world grape varieties, technical exchanges, and cultural dissemination. It also made Yanqing's grape culture move from a local characteristic to an international perspective. Its development process has witnessed the integration of China's grape industry with the world.
